Sing Ong Tai Chi in Whangarei
Whangarei Girls High School, Gym 2, 1 Lupton Avenue, Whangarei
Tuesday and Thursday evenings, from 6.30pm
Peter trained for Olympic wrestling and weightlifting when he was younger, and has studied martial arts for nearly 30 years. He is a qualified Chinese physician, with work experience in a traditional Chinese medicine hospital in Beijing, China.
"I was introduced to Sing Ong Tai Chi in 1995. I now travel down to Auckland every weekend to train tai chi with Professor Yek. Tai chi offers a different approach to martial arts training, and is a new challenge to master. It has made me use and connect my mind and body in a way that no other art has done."
"Tai chi teaches how not to resist force, but rather to relax both mind and body in all circumstances. It is remarkably effective in application for self defence. Regular practice of tai chi also promotes good health."
